In this episode, Brittany Runck shares her deeply personal and ongoing journey through infertility. She has experienced the heartbreak of miscarriage, the emotional and physical toll of multiple intrauterine insemination treatments and is considering in vitro fertilization. Brittany speaks openly about the grief, shame, and isolation that often accompany fertility struggles—but also the strength she’s found in sharing her story.
Key Takeaways
Infertility is more common and more complex than many realize. In the U.S., over 400,000 cycles of assisted reproductive technology are performed each year that result in less than 100,000 live births. Pursuing infertility interventions is a journey.
You can do everything right and still not have control over the outcome. Brittany has followed medical advice, tracked her cycle, changed her lifestyle, and pursued multiple treatments. Sometimes biology doesn't cooperate. And that's not a reflection of effort or worth.
Being proactive doesn't mean pushing nonstop. Part of Brittany's strength is knowing when to pause. Her decision to step back, even temporarily, is an act of self-care, not giving up.
Telling your story can be part of the healing. By speaking out, Brittany is helping break the silence around infertility. And in doing so, she's helping others feel less alone.

Guest: Rohan M. Goswami, M.D.
The benefits of artificial intelligence or AI are just beginning to be recognized. AI has the potential to improve productivity and efficiency in the workplace, reduce errors and help sort out complex issues. The field of healthcare is finding roles for AI by improving the management of patient data, enhancing clinical decision making and assisting in medical imaging analysis. The integration of AI in transplantation medicine is evolving and has the potential to revolutionize the field. Can AI assist in organ matching and allocation? Can it predict graft survival and organ rejection? What ethical concerns does AI bring to the specialty? I’ll be discussing these issues in this podcast as we tackle the topic of “AI in Transplantation Medicine”. My guest for this podcast is Rohan M. Goswami, M.D., a cardiologist and specialist in Transplant Medicine from the Mayo Clinic.

In the wake of massive layoffs at HHS - and so many other federal agencies and programs - we are sharing the powerful stories of federal workers who had no choice but to leave their important work when they were fired post-election. You’ll hear from a former marine who was improving primary care for fellow veterans, a child of farmworkers who was expanding economic opportunities for rural communities and a technologist who was improving the organ transplant distribution system. They used their exquisite talents to help communities thrive and connect people with care they desperately needed. On episode 511 of The Nurse Keith Show nursing and healthcare career podcast, Keith interviews Kevin Gibson, BSN, RN, aka: The Boot Nurse, an NCLEX success coach and mentor with a compelling story to tell and advice to share for those facing this high-stakes exam.
In the course of their conversation, Keith and Kevin discuss top strategies and the essential mindset shift needed to pass the NCLEX. They also discuss their mutual experience of bouncing back from failing the exam, and how they pushed through to finally conquer it and become licensed registered nurses.
Kevin Gibson's journey is a testament to perseverance, service, and dedication. His career began in the U.S. Navy in 2007, where he served honorably until 2024. During his tenure, he specialized in surgical technology, becoming an instructor in 2015 and a master instructor a
year later. He was instrumental in teaching a variety of programs, including tactical combat casualty care and pre-hospital trauma, showcasing his commitment to excellence and his ability to mentor and lead.
In 2018, Kevin achieved another significant milestone by earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. However, his path was not without challenges.
Between 2018 and 2019, Kevin faced three unsuccessful attempts at passing the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). It was through these trials that Kevin's true passion emerged. In 2020, after his fourth attempt, he successfully passed the NCLEX-RN, turning his earlier failures into a profound source of motivation. This experience inspired him to help others overcome their fears of failure. He founded a coaching and mentoring service dedicated to helping nursing students turn their dreams into reality by conquering their own NCLEX exams.
In 2023, Kevin expanded his impact by launching an on-demand 7-day NCLEX Course, which has since helped over 4,000 nursing students achieve success. His dedication to helping others mirrors his commitment to his country, emphasizing his passion for service beyond his military career.
Just as he served his country, Kevin continues to serve others, striving to make a significant impact in the lives of those who aspire to succeed against the odds.
