Kay, Lucy, and Susan are all nurses who have held leadership positions in healthcare organizations in addition to performing research on human-centered leadership. Charlene Platon, MS, RN, FNP-BC, is Director of Ambulatory Nursing at Stanford Health Care and Chair of the ACNL Communication and Voice Committee.

Charlene’s overarching goal as a healthcare leader and nurse innovator is to discover new and creative solutions to improve care delivery and operations. She is passionate about utilizing innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration to address organizational challenges, transform healthcare, and empower nurses.

ACNL in Action is edited and produced by the Association of California Nurse Leaders. ACNL is the professional association for Nurse Leaders, consisting of approximately 1,200 nurse managers, nurse directors, chief nursing officers, nurse educators, and other professional nurses across California.

Founded in 1978, ACNL has spent over 40 years helping nurses advance their professional practice through continuing education, networking, and scholarship opportunities. ACNL’s overall purpose is to equip nurses to lead self, others and systems. ACNL works closely with other nursing organizations in California and throughout the nation.
