The Human Optimization Project: Creating Winning Cultures | Building and Maintaining an Optimal Culture for Teams and Individuals

Host: Christopher L. Camp, M.D. Guest: Christina K. Zorn “Culture” is a word that gets a lot of attention, and deservedly so! It is often thought of as the lifeblood of an organization. However, many of us don’t think about the fact that “culture” doesn’t just exist at the level of large organizations. Culture exists for smaller groups, teams, families, and even individuals. In today’s episode, we will work to define “culture”, discuss its impact on groups (large and small) and individuals, provide real world examples of the impact of culture, and discuss ways of optimizing culture in both the workplace and at home. The three big questions we will tackle in this episode are:1) What exactly is “culture” and why is it so critical to success? 2) How does “culture” impact behavior and outcomes at work and at home? 3) What steps can I take to contribute to a positive culture in the workplace and for my own personal development? To help us answer these questions, my guest today is Christina K. Zorn, who is the Chief Administrative Officer of Mayo Clinic. New York Medicaid has made some big bets on social care recently, and Amir Bassiri is here to answer all our questions. The bold new program centers on nine new regional networks that will be hubs for community organizations offering housing, food and other services. Will this program survive the new administration? Only time will tell. We discuss:The state's ambitious plan to screen every Medicaid enrollee for health-related social needsHow their  approach differs from the social care strategies in NC and CAThe ticking clock: New York's critical three-year window to demonstrate cost savings and improved care outcomesAmir says he’s hoping negotiating with the Trump administration goes better than last time:“We will have to negotiate our demonstration or the renewal of our demonstration with the current administration. The waiver does expire in 27. We have to renew it beginning one year prior to its conclusion, which means we will be negotiating with the Trump administration on our waiver. We've done that before, it did not work out well. “Relevant LinksWatch Amir’s talk at the 2024 Medicaid Conference Get more background on 1115 waivers Read more information about New York’s 1115 waiverAbout Our GuestAmir Bassiri, MSW (he, him, his) is the Medicaid Director for the New York State Department of Health. Save Medicaid: A Critical Moment for Our Loved Ones

Please give my video a watch and SAVE MEDICAID!   Do it as if your child's life depends on it. I want to emphasize the importance of the current moment regarding Medicaid, not to alarm you, but to underscore the urgency of the situation. This is a critical time for the well-being of our loved ones, and the need to act has never been more pressing.   For over 30 years, I’ve been advocating at the state legislature level and with congressional members, but the potential cuts to Medicaid we are facing now are unlike anything we've encountered before. We must work together to protect this vital resource. Your support could make a significant difference.   To reach out to your Congressional Member consider these two resources: - Epilepsy Foundation: https://www.epilepsy.com/advocacy/advocate  - ARC of US: https://p2a.co/lRPDZ5C  What Medicaid means to your family: https://action.thearc.org/3jLx90b
