Sigi Marmorstein shares the shocking statistics related to having a baby in the U.S.
In this episode, we highlight Sigi Marmorstein, Founder and CEO of BaybLiveAdvice, a telehealth enabled service that complements, but does not replace, obstetric/pediatric care providers. BabyLiveAdvice uses technology and professional providers in collaboration with health organizations and medical providers to educate, support, and monitor mothers, birthing people and new patients.
Sigi shares the shocking statistics related to having a baby in the U.S., despite the $120 Billion we spend on maternity and infant care annually. She says:
“We are the worst country in the industrial world by which to have a child. People don’t understand that every 10 minutes a baby or a mom get hurt in pregnancy or postpartum in the United States. We have 45,000 NICU admissions in the last month alone.
What are the issues? It has to do a lot with care access. We have maternity deserts all over the United States, where there is no OB/GYN or maternity ward to be found in miles and miles away.”
