233: Solocast – Winter is Coming
Winter time and the holidays in particular are not necessarily happy times for everyone. No matter if you’ve lost someone or if the holidays just always trigger anxiety and depression, there are ways to combat the triggers. Listen in to hear my four tips to make this the best winter ever.
First up, lower your obligations. Feeling like you’re obligated to do certain things is the leading cause of anxiety, but are you TRULY obligated? No. This year especially there will likely be a reduction of your “responsibilities” during the holiday season. Make a list of all of your normal obligations and start marking off the ones that you can.
Reducing the load of obligations is the first step to having a much better holiday season.
Next, reduce the size of your expectations. Rome wasn’t built in a day and you can’t have holiday celebrations in five different places in a day either. At least not in an enjoyable way. Stop expecting the world of yourself in this time and make realistic goals!
And don’t forget to go on some adventures. The winter time is a great time to reconnect with nature. It may be chilly outside, but there are fewer bugs and fewer plants that could cause you issues. Take a hike, chop down a tree, go on a safe road trip. Make time to have fun.
Listen in to hear my last tip because it really is the best of the bunch! The winter time and the holidays are stressful, but they don’t have to be so overwhelming. How are you making the most of this time?
