232: Flexibility with Suzie Brown

Coming out of one fellowship and looking at starting into the process of another, Suzie Brown felt trapped. She’d spent her life pursuing medicine but never found the fulfillment she thought she’d feel. Instead, she’s found comfort, solace, and peace in creating music.

Suzie has been involved with music her whole life, but her dream was medicine. She specialized in cardiology and found herself on the long path toward cardiac research and clinical medicine. But when she felt like winning another grant was the equivalent of a prison sentence, she knew that she needed a new plan.

She decided to work part-time at a local hospital and really work on her music. And she’s still doing the same today. She’s been able to build quite the body of musical work while still impacting the world through her work in cardiology.

Listen as she shares her story and why this path has been the best for her. She also digs into why flexibility is so important to her, now more than ever, but really has always had a place in her life.

If you’ve always felt called to do something for your soul, then this is the episode for you.

“More than any other time in my life, I didn’t care what they thought because I had clarity about what I needed to be happy.” Suzie Brown
