He played a key role in the development of the AIDS prevention strategy known as “Treatment as Prevention,” and he was instrumental in the creation of the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). In addition, he has served as the Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) since 1984, leading groundbreaking research on HIV/AIDS, influenza, and other infectious diseases. Dr. Fauci’s tireless dedication to his work has saved countless lives and made him a household name.
