221: Career Transformation with Dr. Jawaria Suhail
There is no one right path for physicians in medicine. The medical field is made up of so many more puzzle pieces than simply being a clinician and the field overall benefits when doctors choose to take on non-clinical careers. No one knows this better than Dr. Jawaria Suhail.
She was born in Pakistan and raised in Saudi Arabia with only one professional path available to her. She was going to become a doctor. She was sent to boarding school with a very tiny support system. Later she was put through an arranged marriage and then moved to the states.
Through this time she also had twin boys and started to look for medical careers here in the United States. It wasn’t until she was going through her divorce and realized that she was truly depressed that she knew she needed a change. Due to the stigma around mental health in relation to practicing physicians she turned to coaching.
She is now a medical director for an insurance company, a life coach, and she handles telemedicine and home visits. She is truly the queen of career transitions and she’s made them all with grace and passion.
