An orthopaedic surgeon who became vice speaker of the Pennsylvania House and then AMA president, Andrew Gurman, MD, FAAOS, strongly believes that physician advocacy is a professional responsibility. Through his leadership roles, Dr. Gurman has pushed for better, more affordable care for patients across the country, affecting far more people than he would ever see one-on-one.
