Grandma soon replaced the cupboards with traditional Indian steel dishes. 5 years later, the AAP backed grandma's concerns with science, publishing that certain chemicals can interfere with a child's hormones, growth and development.  Discussing this policy statement with her fellow pediatrician moms, Dr. Mantravadi quickly realized there were no great options for parents. So, Ahimsa was born – a perfect mix of her love for children, background in medicine and Indian heritage.
