Shrouded in shame, stigma, and silence, these conditions are often dismissed and misunderstood both in the healthcare system and by society.

Vulvovaginal and pelvic pain includes a wide variety of symptoms and conditions, including vulvodynia, vaginismus, and pelvic floor dysfunction, which can cause persistent burning, stinging, UTI symptoms, and pain with sex, tampons, and gynecological exams. We examine how social pressure, norms, and public discourse around sex impact how people with vulvovaginal pain experience their own bodies, health, and sexuality.
